Back then, I was completely new to her world. I didn't know what UK garage really was, and the first time I asked her what genre she played, I could tell it wasn't a simple question. She doesn't like to be confined into playing one style. She moves between modern trance, eurodance and hardhouse. High-energy music, the kind that makes you smile and pulls you onto the floor.
So whenever I feel like dancing, I just text her. That's exactly what I did last weekend, when Merle, another friend and ex-roommate of ours, and I joined Sové at Back to Base in Leiden. The two of us followed our friend through the opening of the day, Merle on her Fuji and me on my old analogue Canon. And honestly? That little camera really did steal the show. It was its very first outing with me, and somehow it caught everyone's attention. Turns out nothing turns heads quite like a 35mm film camera at a party, haha.
These photos are the result of that very first roll, shot on my Canon AE-1 35mm.
